Mark is the CEO of Maker Partners, a consultant, speaker and writer about innovation, exponential organizations and the maker movement. He is the former CEO and co-founder of TechShop, the author of The Maker Movement Manifesto and the upcoming The Maker Revolution: Building a Future on Creativity and Innovation in an Exponential World.
Mark has been recognized as one of the “Bay Area’s Most Admired CEO’s” by The San Francisco Business Times. He has visited the White House numerous times and was recognized for his work in the Maker Movement by former President Obama. He was also recognized as one of “25 Leaders in the New Industrial Revolution” by Popular Mechanics.
Mark is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Jacobs Institute at UC Berkeley, an Affiliate of the Institute for the Future, a speaker and Associate Faculty at Singularity University, and a General Partner for Network Society Ventures.
Mark is also a former Green Beret, holds an M.B.A. from the Drucker Center at the Claremont Graduate University, a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Irvine, and is on the Industry Advisory Board at The Claremont Graduate University.
He has spoken at the White House, the Clinton Global Initiative, the Council on Foreign Relations, Singularity U, TEDx, and many others; he has spoken to corporate groups from GE, Ford, P&G, ExxonMobil, Kraft, and other US and Global Fortune 500 firms. He has presented at universities like UC Berkeley, Vanderbilt and Harvard. He has spoken in North America, Europe, the Middle-East and Asia.
